ACA - The Affordable Care Act

The Affordable Care Act makes health insurance easier to get and more affordable for many people living with HIV. It also removed barriers that may have kept you from being able to get coverage in the past.

  • You may get new, affordable health insurance!
  • Your health insurance will cover visits, hospitalizations, emergency room care and medications.
  • You might be eligible to receive financial help to assist in paying for health insurance.

You will need to make an appointment with an Affordable Care Specialist at ARCW. Please bring the following items with you to your visit:

  1. Any letters from the Wisconsin Medicaid Program (also known as BadgerCare), the health insurance marketplace and/or your private health insurance company
  2. Identification - drivers license or state ID card
  3. Social Security Number and any citizenship documents
  4. Proof of income from all sources (Social Security, Paycheck Stubs, etc.)
  5. Information on all members in your tax filing household

ARCW will make sure you get the help you need!
